Reading over some journal-type writings of mine from a few years ago, an idea came to me. I'd like to pick out some of the best stuff and put it in this blog. It's not worth trying to create a book with the material I have, and by the way, it's just too damn hard to write a book. I helped a guy put a book together and that project convinced me that the likely outcomes are not worth the time and effort.

So here I am at 70 looking back over quite a few years of notes, mini-essays, and letters. I'll make an honest effort to select and edit material that someone out there may find worth reading.

My current project

I haven't seen Alfie Taylor in over 45 years, so how is it that I am spending hours every day working on a project with him?

Here's what happened - A few years back, Tom Shaw (Pool & Billiards Magazine guy) used a photo of mine in his mag. Somehow, Alfie's name came up and I mentioned that Alf and I had been close friends back in the early 1960s. Tom gave me Alf's email address and a correspondence began.

I knew Alf had written down some of his experiences during his 20 years traveling the road as a pool player, but he had never put them all together in book form. I offered to proofread some of his stuff, so he started sending me chapters, one at a time. I'd read his stuff, correct some misspellings and grammar problems, and send it back.

This has been going on for a few weeks now, with Alf sending me about 20 chapters of what could become a very readable book. We are already trying to decide who should direct the movie that will surely come from the book he is writing. :>)
